Don't forget, Microsoft joined Google in their fight to open up the white space spectrum. I couldn't believe the crap the other side was spewing against opening up the white spaces. It's like they got lost in a supermarket.

Just like me, you've got incredible poor timing.

I know this is showing my age bad.. but i left school end of '87. Our unemployment rate rose rapidly following the '87 crash at about 5 percent to peak at 10.9 percent toward the end of 1991. Those are the years i should've been at uni, but instead i kinda floundered around. Sure, i did a year learning programming. Unfortunately i didn't have a clue how bad "business computing in COBOL" could get. My view of the business world had totally soured even before i had entered the marketplace. My childhood hero, Bill Gates, had become my nemisis by the time i could afford a PC and internet at $5 an hour. Microsoft now dominated the PC market, languages, and the entire local job market to boot. Being anti-M$ in the mid '90 was kinda rare. Heck, if anyone had bet against me during that whole decade they woulda got rich on that alone.

Things had finally just about turned around this year, and sure enough, we're now entering a bigger crash than '87. Fate has some measure of poor timing, even cancelling years of bright young enthusiasm, and well, ya just gotta swing with it however you can.

Could I suggest a career in dark comedy perhaps?

Unrelated: get a PS3

Why? Because it is the only black console on the market at the moment and it is therefore representative of the strife of African Americans.

Nader needs to shut his pie-hole and actually do something. He just talks about how awesome he is, but his grandstanding is pathetic at best. Get elected, work in a community and make a difference, or shut up.

If you think sex with androids is a bit weird, you're weird. I've been having sex with androids most of my life. Weirder still - All of them looked human.

While US Robotics or Honda Robot are trying to develop the mechanoid systems - realdoll.com has been developing the external package.

Well, all the guys at realdoll.com have to do is team up with US Robotics or Honda Robot, along with a development team from MIT, and we can really start producing androids.

What I want is one that looks like just like me. One that I can send to work at my office desk... while I am away, or send off to parties that I dont want to attend... Hell maybe it can put in a court appearnce or two.

Let me just say that I don't feel as if America is any more progressive than it was eight years ago when it elected Bush. They're just desperate for a new charismatic leader with answers. (And Dems are registering more, but party affiliation is irrelevant.)

I'm not a big believer in the "Bradley Effect." FiveThirtyEight predicts the race tightens to a 4, 5, 6-point Obama lead by election day. To overcome that would require a national move toward McCain on Nov. 4 - I don't see that happening. Race is always an unconscious consideration, but the stakes are high and people are consciously thinking this time around.

I see the possibility of a McCain win if he tightens the race significantly, and then there's a slight Bradley Effect combined with the amount of fraud / disenfranchisement of 2000 + 2004 put together. Which is possible.

We'll see soon enough.

My powerbook is starting to take a beating too, even though I don't use the battery that often. I was just thinking (more like dreaming) about getting an Intel Mac to fix my retro-PC gaming problems (and allow me to get rid of a lot of old computers), but it is unrealistic.

I'm really concerned about the social desirability bias more and more, and that the media finally brought up the "Bradley Effect" doesn't really help that concern. Since I study these issues of social psychology and work on this issue from day to day, it is that ever-present reminder that maybe America isn't as "progressive" as I'd hoped it was, and that the polling numbers are skewed because of the sample they took or any number of social bias effects.

Do you have any concerns in this, or do you feel that Obama may be safe enough?

While driving to work, I saw a chick from New York driving an orange Mini that had a Keeler Mini license plate frame. I immediatly thought she could be in your compatibility range.

It's pretty sweet, even at "standard" resolution.

Plasma tv next on the agenda. And 5.1 surround sound.

I went to a restaurant in Santa Cruz - Saturn Cafe - and had the greatest Tuno Melt sandwich. I don't know how they got it, but it was amazing. I went to Whole Foods yesterday here in L.A., nothing. I called Kelloggs, it's discontinued. Bastards.

I think nuclear energy is relatively safe, but humans do make mistakes, plus your 2nd paragraph (my primary concern). It also has foreign poli drawbacks ("we can play, you can't"), and the (again small) possibility for terrorism.

As the article points out, McCain's pledge (if even possible) would only tread water re: how much energy we gain from nuclear. Considering the drawbacks, I think it makes sense to focus our time on alternatives. (no... not "clean" coal.)

Remind me how many people died in the "three mile island disaster", you know that "huge incident" three decades ago. Shit we have had one major non-lethal fuck up in our country's 50 year history of using nuclear power, that McCain is a madman to even be thinking about the stuff.

You raise a good point about the storage though, you know they bury that stuff in mountain in the middle of the Nevada desert. Why what if it were to seep into the abundant local water supply and 20 years later potentially give cancer to all those people living out there. It would be the greatest environmental disaster since this one time when I took a shit in the woods after eating a lot of hot sauce.

You have a good point though mentioning that it is cost prohibitive to build a nuclear power plant especially when compared to other energy sources without harmful emissions such as solar and wind which are just as efficient and reliable... erm, wait... Then of course there is all the red tape involved in getting a nuclear power plant started, especially with all of the environmental groups filing lawsuit after lawsuit to keep those coal plants in business. Oh my God, I just realized, the majority of our country's energy still comes from global warming contributing plants because of ignorant sue-happy buttfuckers such as yourself... ain't that a bitch?

I've missed you Zeke.

I read a good article the other day that explained while Obama receives more media attention (undeniable), McCain is still the media darling in that they brush aside criticism of McCain on a variety of issues (particularly foreign policy) while scrutinizing Obama much more.

Zeke, how is the new bakshi.us logo? Is it very web 2.1?

I also agree that McCain is attacking too much and it's because the media is putting Obama on the pedestal while nobody hears much about what McCain has to say.

But what does he have to say anyways? He just follows whatever Obama says now.

Also, McCain is unelectable. It's not worth even posting about him.

I've read good and bad things about Tuno. I liked it myself. The secret to making it work was to dump it out of the can into a colander and rinse off all the gelatinous "gravy" stuff. I'm not sure what that stuff was supposed to be, but it made the Tuno look like pet food. Anyway, once rinsed and drained, Tuno was a very acceptable substitute for tuna. I didn't buy it often because I thought it was too expensive. So, given that at least one person who liked it didn't buy it often, and many others thought it was repulsive, I can understand why it was discontinued.

I've read a lot of comments about substituting garbanzos, so I will try that. I can also state that crumbled tempeh made into a salad with vegenaise and whatever else you like in tuna salad is quite tasty.

I can't even understand what he's talking about. He's trying to say Russia punished a nonexistent country for cooperating with us on the star wars missile defense system? If he mentioned Czechoslovakia in passing, sure. But it's kind of fundamental here.
