Site Traffic Continues To Increase

With May completely behind us, I was pleased to find that site traffic was the highest ever recorded. Since I bought this domain in early Feb, traffic has continued to slowly rise each month (even despite the massive slow down at my blog). I’m attributing the cause of this to the forums, which kept them coming back for more.

It’s good news, I was worried. The actual amount of traffic still isn’t huge, but I’m content. As far as actual bandwidth goes, I am still way under my limit. This is an annoying spot to be in. I sort of want to change hosts, but I’m satisfied with Illusionfxnet. Also, I’m currently using two MySQL databases — whereas the cheapest hosting solutions, like NearlyFreeSpeech, only offer a single database. Regardless, I still have half a year with this host. Just have to wait and see.

Tag The Web!

I was thinking about the site. Specifically, about increasing visitors. And then I thought: “What could I do that would both increase visitors and increase my street credibility among my blogging peers?”

Because half of all of my decisions relating to this blog take into account my blogging peers. Damn peer pressure.

Today I ran into an article sparking my interest in tagging, specifically for Technorati. I looked into it, and it looks like another way to draw traffic – in a cool, tech way that will be sure to raise my stature. Or something. A quick FAQ at Technorati is here.

I’m now retroactively tagging my entire post history.

*shrug* Hey, it’s better than studying for my German quiz tomorrow.

NORML > Personal Use > Marijuana Decriminalization & Its Impact on Use

I know, I know. I am only now getting around to browsing the NORML website. I am way behind. But they have a lot of good stuff. Before, I mainly just googled whenever I found myself in the old marijuana debate. Or, I always knew I would find what I wanted at the Schaffer Library of Drug Policy (another must bookmark. Go bookmark it. I’ll wait.)

But NORML’s pages top the cake. The amount of studies they have online is staggering. And, they also provide tasty quotes to hook you in. Because really, even though it is drug-policy, it can get really dry.

“In sum, there is little evidence that decriminalization of marijuana use necessarily leads to a substantial increase in marijuana use.” – National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine (IOM). 1999. Marijuana and Medicine: Assessing the Science Base. National Academy Press: Washington, D.C., 102.

This seems like an interesting read, even if it is 259 pages. Check it out here.

Keep In Mind: My Latest Web Project

As some of you are aware, I’m currently doing the web work for a project we’re working on at IC. We’re designing — from the ground up — the film segment of a large HIV/AIDS conference taking place in Nigeria early next fall — the 14th annual ICASA. And thus — where I come in. I’m making the site for our film segment.

yay.

Keep tabs on my progress – http://www.ithaca.edu/icasafilms

Au revoir!

EDIT: Just a note to say that I never really worked on the site, and it was eventually done by someone else.. Whoops.
