I’ve taken more photos of my pup. Surprised?

He was also featured on some puppy porn site after someone from the site saw my pics on flickr. The response on the site was great with a huge amount of comments, most of them very funny. Check it out here.

A week ago, we drove to New Hampshire to look at an english bulldog that I found online. There were already a lot of applications, but we tried anyways. Didn’t get him.

On a lark, we checked out PetSmart last weekend to look at the dogs. (They have “adoption clinics” every Saturday with local SPCA dogs.)

There was a handsome black and white little 3-month-old pup. We got him.

It’s his one week anniversary today. Figured I’d finally upload the pics!

He’s a total mutt. Part basset hound (check the stubby legs, long body, and great sniffer), a little bluetick hound (look at the “tick” markings around his white), and something that gives him a mid-length, black and white coat (some sort of retriever?)

For 3 months old, he’s incredibly well-behaved. He sleeps a lot, plays hard, and has a healthy appetite.

His name is Baja. It sort of suits him â€“ it was what the SPCA and his old foster family called him, so we kept it. He’s originally from Tennessee, rescued from a kill shelter, driven up to NY just days before we got him.

I think he’s the best dog in the world. But then I haven’t met them all so I’ll reserve judgement.

Dutch brewers launch dogs’ beer

A small brewery in the Netherlands has launched a new beer designed to bring cool relief to thirsty dogs.

Kwispelbier, marketed as “a beer for your best friend”, is made from a special brew of beef extract and malt.

The beverage is a creation of pet shop owner Gerrie Berendsen, who wanted her dogs to share light refreshments with her after a day’s hunting.

The beer is non-alcoholic and fit for human consumption, but costs four times as much as a Heineken.

“Kwispel” is the Dutch word for wagging a tail.

Ms Berendsen, who lives in the eastern town of Zelhem, commissioned the small local Schelde brewery to make and bottle the beer.

“Once a year we go to Austria to hunt with our dogs, and at the end of the day we sit on the verandah and drink a beer. So we thought, my dog also has earned it,” Ms Berendsen told the Associated Press.

That’s the entire story, but it’s still damn entertaining.
