I received a borderline threatening letter in the mail the other day, saying I was past due for several student loan repayments. Turns out after calling twice and requesting my e-mail address to be changed, it still hadn’t happened, and they were sending e-notifications to a long defunct address. Today, I get someone helpful on the phone from Citibank (*gasp*) who manually changed the e-mail address, and accepted payment for (as far as I can tell) three months of back payments, coming out of money that was supposed to pay the credit card.
The current outlook?
- $16,000+ due (total) on four separate federal subsidized Stafford student loans
- $3,200 due on one federal Perkins student loan
- I assume if I owe anyone else money, they’ll be getting in contact.
Moral of the story? I’m in debt, and still not entirely sure what I gained out of it.
