Site Redesign #42

Well, here she is. Several lazy days of coding. Alright, I’ll admit. It’s basically just a combination of Kubrick and Equix. The design of Kubrick, the colors of Equix, hammered into a nice seamless inbetween.

Yes, I went back to one-column. They just look a lot more neater, and a bit less common. The old “header, wide column, short column, footer” formula is getting tired. Some people step up to three or four columns, but that’s just.. overkill.

Expect a few tweaks, and be sure to point out any irregularities with the new design. I don’t have IE on the laptop, so I’m flying blind. Have tested with Safari and Firefox. Only two browsers anyone should be using anyway, but.. I digress.

Out With 2004, In With 2005!

Well, another year, come and gone. The blog is almost a year old now. It’s matured a great deal. Starting out as a strictly political blog. Slowly swinging to personal issues. Lately it’s been almost entirely personal, with the occasional political outburst.

Looking through the archives, the most busy blogging times seem to be during finals weeks. And right after I arrived at school this fall.

Looks like I’ll be staying at bakshi.us territory for awhile longer. Never went out and got a domain.

Lately have been doing a lot of tweaking. Adding a lot of little bells and whistles. Updated the design a little bit more. I’m calling this one version 3.2.

Stay tuned.

Björk Re-Design

I got the urge to re-design, and I decided to do it with my vision of beauty – Björk.

I want to do a bit more editing sometime soon, but yes.

Also, I’m trying to think of a new name for the site, just in case I do go ahead and get my own domain. Any thoughts out there? So far the best I’ve thought of, is ‘intellectual smut.’ But.. Yeah. I sort of wanted something short, and techie.. So.. whatever comes to mind, comment!

We’re In The Big Time Now

Why 2004 was the year of the blog

The term “blog” has been chosen as the top word of 2004 by a US dictionary publisher.

Merriam-Webster said “blog” headed the list of most looked-up terms on its site during the last twelve months.

During 2004 blogs, or web logs, have become hugely popular and some have started to influence mainstream media.

Merriam-Webster defines a blog as: “a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments and often hyperlinks”.

The word will now appear in the 2005 version of Merriam-Webster’s printed dictionary.
