It’s occurred to me recently that to keep a “personal” blog readable, you can’t really get too personal. There are two obvious exceptions – if your experiences can be universally understood, or they are rather unique. (These two cases being what make any nonfiction story worthwhile.)
So while on this “personal” blog I will occasionally blog about what I ate or how my day went, I will do it on a superficial level, impersonal and attempting to make it interesting. (ideally. I often don’t bother.)
But I won’t lament about my nonexistent interactions with other human beings, or my uncertainly and inability to think and plan for the future. This certainly wouldn’t make for great reading. These are the real concerns. But for the sake of readability, I continue with the trivialities.
