Cell Phones, Watches, And Scumbags

First week of classes almost done with, and the semester looks largely O-K. My pathetic grade in Human Genetics last semester will count towards my science requirement afterall, and the only things warranting some stress are my senior project and the internship.

Just the other day I was marveling at my watch, that had gone for nearly four years on the same original battery. Of course, this meant that the battery would soon die. And it did. So I wandered around the Pyramid Mall looking for one of those watch kiosks to get the battery replaced. (I’m lazy and how much could they possibly charge?) But there were no watch kiosks. So I’m constantly looking at my bare wrist, wondering what the time is. I never wore a watch before college – time was irrelevant to the monotony of high school – but now I am totally dependent on knowing what time it is (even if I have nothing to do and am still always late to most things.)

But since I was already at the mall, I went to some Cingular vendor to price out “their cheapest plan.” $39/month, which doesn’t fit my definition of “cheap.” Right now I have one of those lame “pay as you go” schemes, and I blow through maybe $10 a month, at 10 cents a minute. But the problem is I don’t get reception anywhere – and the phone is a POS. But I don’t feel like getting raped for $39 a month for something I despise owning in the first place. C’est la vie.

Finally, to round out the post (the title consists of three things – three being the magic number) I haven’t mentioned yet that some asshole took stuff from my apartment while I was gone for a week around x-mas / new years. I noticed a lot of missing food right off, but later discovered my coffee grinder and flashlight absent. I have no idea what crackpot would steal things like this, but now it means I’m always locking my doors. Meh.
