No-DVD Crack, Redux

A few days ago, I wrote about my troubles with my lost Sims 2 DVD.

After posting that, I did one last search. And found what I was looking for. A no-DVD patch for The Sims 2 for Mac, version 1.0c. I found it on some random German cracks website. Actually, I think I might have found the same link back in Germany, but the site was either down, or blocked by my internet provider, or something. But I was able to download it back here in the states.

Since then, I’ve been playing the game non-stop.

Considering the PITA it was for me to find it, and what a stupid position brought me there, I’m providing the patch now, for anyone who might be in a similar position. Patches like these are not inherently illegal, and have plenty of legitimate uses. My case for instance.

i cant get the crack to work it keeps telling me i need to re-install sims 2

Have you upgraded to version 1.0c first?

ash: I got the same error until I copied the new file into my “The Sims 2″ folder. It worked fine then. (using 1.0c)

Thank you so much for the help! I travel a lot and don’t want to keep dragging my Sims 2 DVD along with me to get lost/broken.
It sucks that there’s no better copy protection system that they can come up with.
Now my Powerbook can travel more lightly and use less power since it won’t have to spin up the DVD every 5 minutes.

do you know where i could find the crack for The Sims Mac OS X? i have done over 25 searches and still cant find it! i have dial-up so……please help!

This file is no longer on my server after some shenanigans. But the crack varies depending on the version. For 1.0c I found this file to work. (Search for this exact name?)

Chi was looking for a crack to v1.0e. I have not updated my copy of the game for fear that the crack would be broken, and I still can’t find my DVD..

I can’t get this to work. I have to 1.0c crack. I have the game on my computer…minus the cd which I can’t find. I am using mac os X. Can someone run me through the steps?

For the one I used, I just had to over-write the main file with the crack. If it’s not working then I’d venture that you’re not using the correct crack for your version…?
