This Wednesday I went to orientation for my new job — clerking at the USPS. I started Thursday, and I haven’t had a whole lot of free time since then. I’m working every day up until my parents and I go to Chicago next week, for Lollapalooza. Including Sunday. Who would of thought?

Been putting in eight or nine hour days, and my job description basically includes everything except actually delivering the mail. It’s been a lot to take in, and I’m on my feet the entire time. I’ve been getting home anywhere from six to seven. Then I usually lay down till dinner; watch an hour of TV, or a movie; spend an hour online, checking my e-mail and this site; then it’s off to bed, exhausted.

Suffice to say, I don’t have a whole lot of time to blog. Earlier this week I even had two or three article ideas that I wanted to expand on. I don’t even remember them now, although one had to do with supporting progressive causes through everyday means. The idea for this came when I applied for a credit card from Working Assets. Ten cents from every transaction is given to a variety of causes that I support. This doesn’t sound like a lot, however they contribute millions of dollars each year this way. The same company also has similar schemes involving long distance and wireless phone plans. And these opportunities are all over the place — ways to support causes that you believe in. In the same way that you can avoid Wal-Mart and shop locally, you can also support fair, ethical companies and avoid the others.

If I had made this blurb into an article, I would have done a little research and found some more links. Made it more coherent, but I’m typing on a schedule, as I already noted. Dinner is ready, I need to eat. Can stay up a little later since Sunday is a short day, and I go in late. But then it’s back to the grindstone. Ugh.
