Because I am always putting off classwork, by making lengthy personal posts.
Today I went through the motions of a Wednesday. Ate breakfast, went to all of my classes, tabled for Amnesty, ate dinner, did some work. All in all it was a decent day, busy, but in a nice sort of way which kept me doing something and not idly wasting time at the computer. Which I’m making up for at this moment, but..
My roommate’s brother is staying over tonight, they are working on my roomie’s film project. Final editing. Can’t wait to see it, I’ve only heard bits and pieces of it so far. It’s short – five or so minutes.
We (the IC chapter of Amnesty International) are in the process of beginning a campaign concerning the genocide in Sudan. Today was our first day of action – we were handing out green ribbons at the table, along with several packets full of information. The ribbons were flying off the table, however I have the feeling that the other tablers didn’t mention the “suggested donation” *wink wink nudge nudge* – because at the end of the day the donation jar wasn’t quite where I would have liked it to be. Also, the majority of the money we raised today was during my hour shift. We tabled for seven hours. :sigh:
Everything that we’re raising now will be going towards Amnesty USA or another suitable NGO which is concentrating on the crisis in Sudan. I have to research to see if there is any reputable place other than Amnesty USA. Amnesty would be a fine NGO, but it would be nice to have all of our money going specifically to the cause that we’re targeting, which I didn’t see as an option on the amnesty website anywhere. However, we probably could send express instructions to them in terms of where we want the money going.
I did laundry. It was the first time in quite awhile. (I guess people of my political persuasion just don’t do laundry often.
)
The work that I’m putting off, is my semester-long paper for my Israel class which is due this Friday. Ten pages absolute minimum. I just got back from the library, where I took out seven books, ranging from Israeli pop-culture, to the Sabra generation, to the Holocaust, to Kibbutzim. This is in addition to the three or four books we read throughout the course. And the half a dozen hand outs we’ve read. And internet sources.
Now I just need the motivation and the time. I think I might skip a few classes on Friday. Perhaps my writing class, since I got an extension on that paper, which was also due Friday.
:whistling:
We are leaving at 2pm on Friday, heading to Georgia. An eighteen to twenty hour trip. (each. way.) There are only five of us, and it’s totally unaffiliated from the college. I think I’m going to be doing some of the driving.
Interpol — C’mere
It’s way too late to be this locked inside ourselves
The trouble is that you’re in love with someone else
It should be me. Oh, it should be me
Sacred parts, your get aways
You come along on summer days
Tenderly, tastefully
