Part One Complete!

Ok, so I got a new template up and running.

Ok, actually I only changed a single thing – adding the peace symbol graphic at the top. Otherwise, the template is PERFECT. Thanks go out to Bakshi, for pointing me to Binary Bonsai dot com. This template is awesome, major thanks go out to the creator Michael Heilemann. It’s really a tribute to how aesthetically pleasing I find the template, that I have yet to change anything.

One slight problem, is when things are being loaded for the first time, the right menu moves a bit, in Firefox. But after scrolling, it corrects itself. I know I wouldn’t be able to solve it, and it’s not that troublesome.

The next step is to add different sections, such as photographs, the archetypal About Me section, etcetera and so forth. I want to make it so everything feels less like “just a blog” and more like a comprehensive site. For this, I have to figure something out. Including taking out some of the blog-esque features for these special sections. Which includes making it so there is no ‘date’ on the page. I can turn off comments, but actually they’re nice. Various other little things.

I must go now and do some work that I’ve been seriously procrastinating on. But first, an interesting e-mail I just got:

Tomorrow is National Depression Screening Day. National Depression Screening Day® (NDSD), the first and largest nationwide, community-based mental health screening program, provides in-person and online screening for four of the most common and frequently co-occurring mental disorders: depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder…

Maybe I should go? ;-) Naw, feeling fine currently.

Au revoir, my faithful readers!

  • Very nice template. I may switch to this template too. I noticed you put your misc. links back on the first page too. I love the logo too, it’s awesome.

I like it. I’m working on a new template for myself too, and getting nowhere fast. I’ll get around to it, right?

Also, as for the about me page and stuff, the new version of WordPress makes it really easy to make pages like that. It’s still in alpha, but I’m using it and having pretty good success.

  • The 1.3 alpha? I’m guessing it will be released as final in January. I gotta try it sometime though. I’m gonna check your site Lee to see what you’ve done with your alpha. :)
